Guess what I'm buying :)

I have got to be the most impatient person ever! I'll be 14 weeks post this Saturday (WOOP!) and I have almost 2 in. of NG. I also have heat damaged ends from before my HJ that I'm going to get rid of as soon as I reach BSL. I clip a few here and there though, just for my own piece of mind!

Therefore, me, being the impatient person I am, I am going to purchase some sulfur powder tomorrow since it's also PAY DAY! I get paid every Friday at 12 AM :) (Thats that direct deposit for yo ass . . oh yeah and UPS . .) Therefore I rarely feel like I go broke and its way easier to save money but that's besides the point!

At first I was going to buy Gro-Aut Oil . . but its high as HELL. Then I was gonna purchase potion . . but it has WAY too many mixed reviews. Sulfur, on the other hand, I haven't heard anything bad about really so why not give it a try?

Sulfur is supposed to produce an inch a month, plus its only $6.99 on Amazon.com :) But it was being an asshole to me, so I got it for $4 and some change on another website.

I'm going to mix it with EVOO and JBCO bkuz of the moisturizing properties of EVOO (I <3 that stuff) and JBCO, bkuz I don't have any other oils. I SWEAR to ya'll that this is the last thing I'm buying for my hair, except to replenish what I run out of. If it ain't broke don't fix it ...

It'll be here in 5-7 business days and I can't wait ot share my progress with ya'll :) *fingers crossed*

Next blog: Look out for my first Thrift Haul coming sometime this week!

Silken Child Silk Moisturizing Creme

"SilkenChild Silk Moisturizing Creme is a daily receiver of moisturebalance, shine and manageability. Shea butter, Olive Oil, and Coconut Oil help to protect hair from breakage and eliminate dry, lifeless hair."

Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Coconut Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl Esters, Olive Fruit Oil, Castor Seed Oil, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polyacrylamide,Hydrolized Silk, Hydroxyethyllulose, Shea Butter, Sorbitol, Fragrance, Peanut Oil, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Tetrasodium EDTA, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropyl Butylcarbamate, Coumarin, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol.

Directions (in my own words): Apply small amount to hands, rub together and apply from root to tip. Can be use on wet or dry hair.

How I use it:
I use this to M&S with EVOO. I part my hair in 4 sections. Moisturize in smaller sections, seal in those 4 sections.

I bought this off of one of my many hunches. I went into Sally's to buy the big bottle of ORS Replenishing Conditioner, but I needed a moisturizer so I picked this up and . . Needless to say, THIS IS MY STAPLE NOW! I will no longer look for another moisturizer because this is just amazing. Its a very light moisturizer and a little definitely goes a long way so it doesn't weigh my hair down! It makes my hair feel so moisturized and soft. The scent also strongly resembles that of coconut oil. Trust me when I say, I refuse to put any other moisturizer in my head! #RecoveringPJ

I give this product a 10/10! Plus its dirt cheap (sold at only at Sally's) :)
US $3.99

Breaking News: Change of Plans!

#1. I'm ending my cowashing experiment! Why? Bkuz cowashing is becoming too much manipulation for my hair especially in this stretch. Too much detangling. Too much product. So I'm throwing cowashing out of my regimen altogether from now until next year.
#2. Winterfying my regimen! Cooler weather is coming to the H (finally . .) So I'm simplifying my regimen and as soon as I establish it, I'll post about it. But just know that it will consist of ONE wash day and on that day I will detangle.
#3. I'm a PJ :( Yeah. I'm not in denial! I can't walk into the store without buying more than what I intended on buying! Like today, I went for ORS Replenishing Conditioner, and walked out with Silken Child moisturizer . . SMH!
#4. Some frequent haul posts! There'll be some haul posts and pictures coming soon since I'm going thrifting and winter shopping since I have NO winter clothes. So look for those within the month.
#5. Product reviews! Reviews on Silken Child moisturizer, ORS Replenshing Conditioner, Silk Elements Leave in, and NTM Daily Deep Conditioner.
#6. Stretching! I made 12 weeks post yesterday :) I'm looking to make it to 16 weeks. So you'll probably see some posts on how I keep my NG soft, some pictures, and some tips on stretching. I'll post pictures when I make 13 weeks.

If there's something you wanna see, leave a comment below :)

Cowash Experiement: Week UNO!

Hola readers :) Before I begin let me explain the Cowash Experiement. The Cowash Experiement as a test I am doing on my hair to figure out which cowash I prefer the most, besides my Aussie Moist (I ran out and don't wanna pay $5 for less product). I'm using V05 Moisture Milks, V05 Tea Therapy, V05 Herbal Escapes, and Suave Almond + Shea Butter. Each week I use a different conditioner and at the end of the experiement, I'll let you know which ONE I'm sticking with and this will put an end to my search for the perfect cowash.

Okay so this week I used V05 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie and V05 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea. Each time I cowashed I used about 1/2 the bottle as you can see. I make sure my hair is drenched in condtioner, leave it in for 5 minutes, massage it through, and then lightly detangle.

Each conditioner will be rated (1-10) in a number of catagories: Smell, Consistency, Slip and Moisture.

V05 Moisture Milks
Smell: 8! OMG I love fruity smelling conditioner. It doesn't smell as good as the strawberries and cream but I still can't keep my nose out of the bottle. Sadly, the scent doesn't linger on your hair though. I wish it did . . So minus 2 points.
Consistency: 10 of course :) When looking for a cowash you want something kinda runny. Runny conditioners are easier to distribute through the hair than creamy thick ones and this was EXTREMELY easy to distribute.
Slip: 7. To me V05, doesn't have the best slip in the world. It has some but nothing amazing, but it is still pretty easy to detangle with. Minimal breakage :)

Overall: 22. I subtracted 3 points because even though it moisturizes well, it didn't make my scalp feel clean like cowashing usually makes it.

V05 Tea Therapy:
Smell: 7. Its very subtle so you gotta inhale extra hard to smell it . . which sucks, but it still smelled pretty nice.
Consistency: 10. See above.
Slip: 9. IDK why but it was soooo much better than Moisture Milks . . Hm.

Overall: 28. Adding an extra 2 points bkuz my scalp felt very yummy, lol.

Goodbye Moisture Milks :(
Next: V05 Herbal Escapes

Small Hair Accessory Haul :)

I've finally gathered up the motivation to take pictures of my haul on my crappy phone, edit them, then type up this blog so let me begin with a short story! When I went on this haul, I went with the intention of buying JEANS! But I had to go pick my sister up and me being me, I just HAD to leave that mall with a bag in my hand so I, obviously, bought hair accessories from my favorite store EVER . . Forever 21 :) This haul was around $20. I'll include the prices.
I wear my hair in a bun all the time as my protective style, so my normal black headband gets dreadfully boring. I picked this cute little one for $1.50. It's a teal/turquoise braided headband with gold accents in between and its in my favorite color :)
Excuse the crappy quality of the photos, I did the best I could :) But anyways, this headband is light brown, dark green, and purple with yellow and black hatching. It has a knot in the front as you can see from the picture on the left and all of the colors have a pattern shaped like this ">". It fits very snug so you shoudn't worry about it falling off :) $4.80

This is my FAVORITE of them all! It's perfect when I want to add just a pop of color to any outfit (tastefully of course, don't just go throwing this on with EVERYTHING!) The headband is purple, pink, black, green, blue, white, and yellow :) The material has the same feel as silk/satin scarf so that a major plus for me. It also has that same knot as the headband above and also has that same snug fit. $3.80
Okay this is OBVIOUSLY not a headband (but I don't see why it can't be used as one) but I just had to get it! This scarf is sooo beautiful and I just can't wait to wear it fraped over my neck or tied to my purse! Its a bright purple, with white and gray outline, but on the inner part it has gold and blue crests around it with Latin writing. Its outline is also made up of what looks to be a series of intertwined belts. $6.80

P.S. IDK about ya'll, but at my Forever 21, they've added a rack FULL of scarves in different varieties! I plan on revisiting that rack :) So if your Forever 21 has that rack, I'd check it out. Lots of goodies to be found in there!

Top 3 Pet Peeves on this HJ ;(

We all have them! Things that make us cringe when we see our YouTube favorites or other "gurus" or just other women (and the few men) that are on a HJ, do the things we despise the most on this HJ, but what are mine???

1. Calling Low Manipulation styles Protective styles This is at the TIP TOP of the list for a good reason and you probably already know why. Now if you're on a HJ, you should know that these 2 things are most definitley NOT THE SAME!
Low Manipulation styles are styles that you don't have to do anything to. No combing or anything. These would be your braidouts, twist outs, bantu knot outs, etc. but more importantly . . your ends are exposed to all the environmental dangers of the world (BOO!!!!).
Protective styles are styles that protect your ends from these dangers and guess what that means . . LENGTH RETENTION! Less likely you'll have ratty ends that will eventually die, lol. These would be your buns, sew-ins, wigs, drawstring ponytails, etc.
Lesson of the day: If it doesn't hide your ends, its not protective WHATSOEVER! However, just like a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square, Protective is Low Mainpulation, but Low Manipulation isn't Protective. So let's get that straight!

2. BAD HAIR ADVICE! OMG . . you've seen it. We've ALL seen it and, in my opinion, it is the worst possible setback next to "scissor happy" stylists and uneducated "licensed professionals." Good example??? TYPE F videos! If you haven't seen them, sadly, you missed them! Another thing? Two words . . OLD SCHOOL. Who is "old school"? Anyone that has passed down those old school beliefs that black people aren't supposed to wash their hair often or that those of us on a HJ are doing too much to our hair and its gonna fall out. Have I said enough? I BELIEVE SO!

Now last on the list . . The thing I hate the MOST on my HJ. If I could blow these things up I would do it in a HEARTBEAT!

3. Herbal Essences Products! Yeah I said it . . I hate HE products. Contrary to many of us on a HJ, they just don't do it for my hair. They do it to my hair! Breakage out the ass . . Especially . . yeah I'm about to go there . . LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP! I used the leave in. #1 It stunk like perfume. #2 That bottle was small as hell for $3. #3 IT STUNK LIKE PERFUME! I bought the "New and F'd Up" version of it . . Anything that has that sticker on it is bound to be trouble. Let's just say, I've learned my lesson :)

Next blog: Small Hair Accessory Haul + Winter Wish List (maybe)! This should be up by Tuesday! I've been too lazy to take pictures of the stuff lol

How I use my glycerin :)

If you were like me and bought glycerin and had aboslutely no idea what to do with it, this is for YOU!

Last night I was lazy and did not put a scarf on at all. Bad idea! Woke up this morning and my hair was a stiff, dry MESS! I had absolutely no idea how I was gonna get that mess in a bun before school, so I sprayed my already prepared glycerin mix and you couldn't even tell that I looked like some ratchet hoe when I got up this morning :)
**If you don't already know, glycerin is a humectant meaning that if draws in moisture from the air to your hair (Hehe, I made a rhyme #pow)! Perfect for the hot/warm weather, not so much cool/cold weather.**

Pros:
-Shine
-Ridonkulous softness! Especially for the NG and them kinky linkys :)
-Moisture
-Some slip when finger combing :)
-Very light on the hair

Cons:
-Oily on the hands

Recommended for EVERYONE when PROTECTIVE styling :)

What you'll need:
Glycerin
Your oil of choice (I use EVOO)
Water
Spray bottle

Mix your spray bottle with 1 part water, 1 part oil, and a couple of teaspoons of your oil. Shake it up. BAM! Ready to go. USE AS NEEDED :)

I personally spray this everyday root to tip!

***If you do NOT have vegetable glycerin, don't sweat it. I don't either. I use the one in the picture and it still works wonders. Purchased from Wal-Mart's pharmacy aisle with the Band Aids and junk.***

*The ORS Edge Control is in the picture bkuz when you're trying to hold your edges down, it helped me to spray my mix then apply my Edge Control
*This is replacing my normal M&S until winter!

Hello World :)

First blog post! Oh yeah baby! I'm going to start this off my introducing myself :)
My name is Alexandria. NOT Apple! Apple is a name my friend calls me and I kinda like it so it sticks. You may also call me AP or Alex (Hint: I like AP)
I'm 18 years old. I'm a sophmore in college. I'm hoping to transfer to Sam Houston State in Fall 2012.
Okay, now that the boring basic info that even I don't care to talk about, so moving on!
You're prolly saying, "Oh Alex, if you aren't going to talk about yourself then why do you have a blog?!" Uh well, because I'm on a HJ and I'd like to share my experiences with the world, or those that choose to read this thingy.
I've been on a HJ since May 2011. I'm currently 10 weeks and 2 days post. My hair is a little past APL and cut in layers. My current goal is BSL by December 2011 or January 2012. My long term goal is MBL.

What do I hope to gain from this blog???
A great experience! I'll start off blogging and posting pictures and then if people would like me to post videos and whatnot I'll do that also! I'll also be writing about my personal life so . . brace yourselves!

What can you expect from me???
An entertaining journey thats fa sho! To put it simply, I say what I wanna say, when I wanna say it, how I wanna say it. I would like to give those who read an amusing AND educational experience! "But Alex, thats impossible!" Then get off my blog, I don't have room for that loser talk! My first goal is to educate, then motivate.

On my blog you'll find:
-Product Reviews
-Progress Pics
-Hauls
-NO makeup (I don't wear makeup. IDK anything about it whatsoever so don't ask)
-Tags (if asked for)
-Tips
-Random rants

In conclusion: I love feedback, please feel free to voice whatever opinions you have. If you feel that I should do this or that, then let me know. Leave your comments! Thanks for reading and I can't wait to take this journey with all of you!

:)
